The Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO) is pleased to announce that Brian Gibson has been appointed Chair of its Board of Directors, effective immediately, by the Honourable Rod Phillips, Provincial Minister of Finance. Mr. Gibson replaces David Leith.

Mr. Gibson has over 40 years of investment experience, including as Senior Vice President at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Alberta Investment Management Corporation. During his career, he has built and restructured large investment operations and has managed large investment portfolios, including those of insurance companies, a chartered bank, pension and mutual funds, and endowments.

“I am honoured to assume the role of Chair as IMCO continues to build on the success it has achieved so far,” said Mr. Gibson. “I look forward to working closely with the Board of Directors and President & CEO Bert Clark, and his management team, as IMCO pursues its mandate to achieve the long-term investment objectives of its public sector clients.”

Mr. Gibson is currently a Director of Precision Drilling Corporation and of Samuel, Sons & Company Ltd. He is an Advisory Board Member of Kruger Inc. He is also the Chair of the Corporate Disclosure Policy Committee of the CFA Institute.

Mr. Gibson has an MBA from the University of Toronto (1988), is a Chartered Financial Analyst (1982), holds the ICD.D designation awarded for completing the Directors’ Education Program. He continues to be a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
