IMCO welcomes Tony Algar as new Chief Operating Officer

TORONTO (Sept 30, 2020) – The Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO) announced today that Tony Algar has been appointed Chief Operating Officer effective September 28, 2020. He reports to President and CEO, Bert Clark.

Mr. Algar was formerly with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) for 10 years where he was most recently Managing Director, Head of Investment Operations. Prior to this, he held senior roles in Risk Management and Operations at RBC Capital Markets and TD Securities. His career also includes international experience gained through capital market positions in Sydney and London.

“Tony has strong leadership, depth of experience and knowledge of investment operations,” said Bert Clark, President and CEO. “His ability to drive IMCO’s operational excellence will help support the firm’s long-term growth and evolution.”

Mr. Algar will oversee the effective integration and deployment of key functions across the organization, including IT, Investment Operations, and Strategic Development and Project Management. He holds a Bachelor of Economics/Statistics from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from the Securities Institute of Australia as well as the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation.
