Insights

Sustainability issues are rapidly evolving and increasingly complex, leading to a growing need for expertise to navigate that complexity. We sift signals from the noise to achieve clarity on what matters and use our insights to drive returns.

Our ambition is for every investment professional at IMCO to be a sustainable investor that understands, analyzes and integrates relevant sustainability factors in their decision-making. To achieve this, we are developing proprietary tools and training to equip our teams with the right resources, as well as leveraging our external platforms and global network for value-add knowledge.

Through our existing research, investment experience and industry presence, we have established pockets of expertise in select topics most relevant to our portfolio:

Carbon Footprint

IMCO's portfolio carbon footprint, measured by the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated by our investments, is used to track progress against our net zero targets and identify priorities for decarbonization and opportunities within our portfolio.

Our reporting methodology is in line with the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) global industry standard. The asset classes covered in our financed emissions calculations represent 92% of total assets under management as of December 31, 2023.

Portfolio Emissions Graphs

1Scope 1 refers to domestic GHG emissions from sources located within the country/territory. Scope 2 refers to GHG emissions occurring because of domestic use of grid-supplied electricity, heat, steam and/or cooling imported from another country/territory.
2Scope 3 refers to emissions attributable to non-energy imports as a result of activities taking place within the country/territory.

Sustainability in IMCO's World View

IMCO’s World View defines the key themes and implications that we believe will shape the investment landscape for years to come. We use our World View to monitor trends, inform economic outlook and guide investment strategy.

'ESG & Climate Change' is one of the six key themes we identified in recognition of the growing interconnection between sustainability and investing in today's environment.
